Press Review:
It isn't that often that we get a detail photo book on the most modern IAF aircraft to enter service, but thanks to the reputation and diligence of the author, Ra'anan Weiss, we have THE walkaround book on the new F-16I 'Sufa' (Storm). The book starts with a brief history of the type, and brief it has to be as it has only been in service a couple of years. This section also includes a number of excellent full views of various aircraft with both the Bat and Negev squadrons. It also includes images of the aircraft in its delivery scheme without the CFTs that are part of the standard suite of the F-16I. In order to comply with security requirements, the faces of the pilots have been distorted to make them unidentifiable. This hasn't been extended to the higher ranking IAF officers or the ground crews, which I guess are not considered targets. There then follows page after page of superb color photography, covering every nook, cranny and panel on the F-16I. This includes close detail photographs of the various weapons and stores carried by the Sufa. In fact, the entire book is in full color, and that includes several color profiles. It is almost impossible to find anything about this book that I don't like. It has been well thought out, provides more detail on the plane than most of us will ever need and makes for a fascinating read as well. Hard to believe it is the first in the 'Aircraft in Details' series and makes me wonder how they can possibly top it. This is the finest publication yet available on the type. A MUST for enthusiasts of the IAF and for any modeler who wants to accurately portray the type in plastic. Most highly recommended.
